*FAILING BEFORE GOD*
Live Daily Footstool Devotional

Isaiah 57:15-18 KJVS
For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: *for the spirit should fail before me* , and the souls which I have made. [17] For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart. [18] I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.

The reason why God is with us is to help us live aright. The Bibe says even though God is so high and lofty, He makes His dwelling with people who are humble and contrite (apologetic). If we will be incorrigibly proud, God cannot dwell with us. The Bible says, He resists the proud ( James 4:6, 1 Peter 5:5). But if we will show signs of penitence and repentance, God will afford to dwell us and not leave us. He dwells with those who are of a lowly and contrite spirit.

As such, no spirit or soul that God has made should be able to successfully resist God. When God chooses you and decides to work with you, you have to take your place and be humble so you can walk with Him. If you get to a place and start feeling like you can do without the Lord, and begin to take steps faster and further than His pace, just because you have your eyes set on some gain which you think God is keeping too long in bringing, you end up causing " the iniquity of covetousness" which is very annoying to God. What is the "iniquity of covetousness"? It is that which makes you go after profit, gain or lucre through dishonest or violent means, rather than that gained through steps with God. This is often done to please people rather than God. That is the sin that King Saul committed when He did not wait for Prophet Samuel to come and perform the sacrifice in 1 Samuel chapter 15. The Bible says the reason why God can get wroth or very angry with a humble person is when they get into such subtle sins of pride and the inquity of covetousness.
But this anger of God gets appeased when your spirit fails before Him. Your pride and intense desire to get it all quickly must be able to fizzle out before God. You and I must be able to fail before God. We must be able to fail in the day that we willfully decide to go against God. May God cause us to experience this slaying power of the Holy Ghost. When the our spirits and souls fail before God, He works on us and heals the error in our beings so that we can continue to walk with Him. He restores His leadership in our lives so that it will be well with us and those who love us.
It is this ability to fail before God that makes the humble different from the wicked. The wicked cam never have peace or reconciliation with God.

Isaiah 57:19-21 KJVS
I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him. [20] But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. [21] There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.
It's a blessing to be humble and contrite and to be chosen by God. May our spirits fail before Him always.
