Esther 8:4-6 KJVS
Then the king held out the golden sceptre toward Esther. So Esther arose, and stood before the king, [5] And said, If IT PLEASE THE KING, and if I HAVE FOUND FAVOUR IN HIS SIGHT, and THE THING SEEM RIGHT BEFORE THE KING, and I BE PLEASING IN HIS EYES, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which are in all the king's provinces: [6] For how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?
Haman is a type of satan. He plotted evil against the people of God. It took a woman who was not as concerned about her own life as she was about her children, her people, her kindred, to face this devil and oppose him till he lost the fight.
Queen Esther is a prototype of God’s dream wife for His sons, the kings of the earth. Queen Esther gained favour before the King of the Persian Empire not so she could have her own way in the flesh. Queen Esther made sure that the favour she gained before the king was not used to manipulate situations so she could have whatever her selfish desires demanded at any point in time. Queen Esther used the favour she gained before the king to reverse the plans of the enemy against the people of God. It is this special behaviour, response and action of Queen Esther that has made her an all- time favourite in the Bible and throughout history. She is a great example for all women who eagerly desire to be specially favoured and singled out by the men in their lives. If you want your husband to like you more than anyone else, the key is for you to be utterly selfless and given to battles that free the people that the enemy wants to keep in bondage.
Queen Esther demonstrated four levels of receiving favour in the sight of her king. One, she wished that whatever she had to present pleased the king. Pleasing the king means doing what he wants. Esther wished that her presentation will not be a nuisance, but rather something acceptable and worthy of the audience of the king. You must desire to have something presentable to give to a king. For example, if all your meals are usually served in broken bowls and dishes that are not lordly, you are not training yourself for the palace yet. If your are a singer, and your voice cannot be chosen to be the one that stands out before distinguished people gathered, then you have work to do. If your goods for sale are not rightly packaged or your dressing is always shabby, you are not yet preparingto please a king. Desire to have something that will please the king when presented to him.
Two, she hoped to find favour not in the sight of many people but just in the sight of her king. She hoped that whatever she did will look nice as per the way the king sees, and not necessarily how other people in the palace saw things or how she herself saw things per se. She looked forward to doing things that would make her nice to her king. This means she sought to know how a king sees things. What makes the difference between a pauper and a king is how each of them sees things. Get interested in knowing how God sees things. Get interested in knowing how leaders see things. People in authority see things differently from people who are not. Try to see things from a leader’s perspective. It makes you behave in a way that you appealing before kings.
Three, she asked for what seemed right before the king. She looked out for the right thing to do before the king. You must seek for righteousness. You must seek for how to be righteous before God and kings. You must read. You must learn. You must research. You must make every effort to be right and not appear misinformed or wrong. You must gather your facts and rehearse truth before you stand before a king.
And then four, she wished that she herself will be pleasing in the sight of the king.
