Hebrews 2:18 KJVS
For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
MEANING OF SUCCOUR
To succour means to provide aid or relief. You cannot provide aid or relief if you do not know what it means to be at the receiving end of aid. You cannot provide aid or relief when your soul has not enjoyed the benefits of relief from pressure, or lack, for instance.
When we are caught in a hard place, we find ourselves often tempted to let in to the easiest way out that may be presented to us. It is easy to give in to temptation when you are hard pressed for something so basic that you are not able to afford for yourself.
JESUS SUCCOURS US
Have you ever been so fondly and personally touched and aided by the Lord Jesus? Has anyone ever met your needs in a very tender yet deeply touching way You? You wonder how the giver knew how much that thing meant to you and how he marvellously made a way for you to have it. The Lord is able to provide great help and succour to us because he knows what it means for us to be without it. He knows because he has undergone all those pressures before and knows the temptations that are associated when we are in great need for even basic supplies. But the Lord never gave in to temptation, though He suffered the pressures associated. Today, He is able to provide several and diverse forms of individualised help, aid, relief and succour to people in all kinds of troubles and needs.
ENDURE SUFFERINGS, OVERCOME TEMPTATIONS
What are you in need of today? God has a way to provide your needs. He wants you to wait patiently for Him to supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ. He doesn't want you to hop onto the wagon of the tempter who's fake provisions are only meant to lure you into bondage. Don't give in to temptations that falsely promise you relief from sufferings that are meant to lead you into glory.
BECOME A SUCCOURER
The Lord has a plan not only to succour you but also to give you a special ability to succour others who are in need. You will not be able to truly touch others through your giving if you do not have a personal history of overcoming temptations throughout your suffrage. Always remember that there is always someone out there who is need of the succour only you can provide when you are able to overcome your temptations and make much out of your sufferings for Christ's sake. Always remember that God wants you to succour others just the same way He has succoured you. Always remember that you can only become able to succour others who are being tempted in their hardships when you yourself suffer and overcome your temptations.
