THE ROYAL LAW- LOVING NEIGHBOURS

James 2:8-9 NLT - Yes indeed, it is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 9 But if you favor some people over others, you are committing a sin. You are guilty of breaking the law.
Love your neighbour as you love yourself- this is the golden rule. Love your neighbour as you love yourself- the Bible says this is the royal law. If you do not have eyes to recognise who your neighbour is and what you can do to help your neighbour your royalty can never be complete. The king of heaven decrees that you cannot become like him, till you learn to contribute significantly to the wellbeing of your neighbours.
Who is a neighbour? The Greek Word for neighbour in the scripture above is “ plesion”. “ Plesion”( pronounced play- see-on) means one who is near, close by, a fellow as in fellow man, country, or friend, or Christian( according to Christ, any other man irrespective of nation or religion with whom we live or whom we chance to meet) or according to the Jews, any member of the Hebrew nation and commonwealth. We must be able to notice a neighbour and especially be of help to them when they need help.
Neighbours may not necessarily be just like you. They may have a different language, behave in a different way, or behave in a strange way. The Bible says we should recognise people who live close by or near us and we should be ready to show them love at all times.
