I have an evangelist friend that once gave some really good advice. He said that “you can listen and learn or you can live and learn and listening is always easier than living.” In 1 Kings 12, we find a king who should have listened to the wisdom of the aged rather than going with his gut, a decision that eventually cost him the kingdom. We’ll also learn the greater value of seeing Jesus from this Old Testament story and what it can teach us about the message of grace.
