One of the most influential voices in my spiritual journey as a high school student was my student pastor, Mike Brandon. A former police officer turned history teacher, he had a way of speaking into my life without ever even saying a word. The truths that he instilled in my life in that season were incredibly instrumental to my calling as a pastor and teacher in the years ahead. He had a way of coining pithy phrases that taught important truths. One of those truths that He inscribed on my teachable mind in that season was the phrase, “when God decides, God provides.” The axiom has stuck with me as I’ve found it to be true in my own life. It’s true, when we walk in obedience to God’s commands, He will providentially and sometimes miraculously provide what is needed most in that season. It’s a truth we see demonstrated today in 1 Kings 17 and on today’s podcast we’ll trace God’s hand of provision as it follows the prophet’s heart felt decisions.
