Have you ever got to the point where you had enough? I mean you tried to do everything you could to make that situation work out right. You did everything you could do, but somehow things just didn’t work out. You’re frustrated, you’re exhausted, you’re tired, you’ve had enough and you are on the edge of just throwing your hands up in despair and walking off? Have you ever been there? One of the things I love the most about the Bible is that the word never glosses over these emotions. We see them in the life of the greatest of men, men like Elijah. Few men have ever seen the heights of Elijah’s ministry. Conversely, few men have ever felt the depression and anguish that the prophet experienced either. In 1 Kings 19, we see these emotions displayed for us in the man of God and it’s worth our time to consider what God might be teaching this man in this moment and what He might be teaching us as well.
