I’ll never forget it. I just had started into full time ministry and my head was filled with dreams and plans that I was so sure were going to work. I had it all figured out and all I needed was a chance. Now almost 20 years into ministry, I’m far less enthralled with my own ideas. I’ve had lots of helping of humble pie over the years, and though my heart still dreams, I’m less inclined to be convinced my dreams will work and more drawn to seek God’s plans for His church rather than my own. Remarkably, the wisest man on the earth didn’t get there because He knew everything, but precisely because he didn’t, a truth we learn today from 1 Kings 3.
