Description

One of the most helpful things I’ve ever done is read the Bible chronologically. It is particularly helpful in helping us see God’s word as ONE Unified story designed to point us to a King who will redeem all that our brokenness has corrupted. 2 Kings 17 begins for us a new section in our ONE Story Reading Plan.  It resumes the storyline of the plight of God’s people following section 9. That section highlights the prophets who were sent to both Israel and Judah to warn them against the judgment that falls in 2 Kings 17. Despite repeated pleas, this chapter chronicles the fall of Israel and her capital city Samaria to the Assyrian empire, a sad and bitter end to a once glorious kingdom.  Now before diving in, let me encourage you to watch the video that begins section 10 on the Exile. It does a great job expanding the idea of exile to the entire Biblical story as a helpful motif to help us understand the plot line as well as help us understand the emotional duress the people experienced under the hand of God’s judgment on their sin. I’ll post the video link in the show notes for today’s episode.
