Have you ever gone on a road trip and wondered if you would ever reach your destination? Perhaps it was through the night and it felt like you were stopping over and over again and falling further and further behind? I’ll never forget the first time our family went on a beach trip together. Our kids were little and so we decided it would be best to travel at night in the hopes that they would sleep. The only problem was, they were too excited to do so and so we ended up stopping over and over and over again for them. I felt like that was the longest night of my life and we’d never get to where we were going.
In 2 Kings 2, Elijah and Elisha are on a road trip of sorts and like our story, they stop at several places before reaching their destination. But what we learn from their road trip could speak volumes to us about what it means to truly follow Jesus.
