I only ever got in one fist fight during my school days. It ended as quickly as it began, with one punch thrown. I connected on a left hook that send my sparring partner to the school nurse. The truth is I was more shook up over it than he was. He was my best friend, he just wouldn’t leave me alone. Sad to say, I regret it to this day. Sometimes, leaving people well enough alone can keep us from battles not worth fighting. This is what we encounter today in Deuteronomy 2. This chapter might be aptly titled, when to pick a fight and when not to. In this chapter, we see God strategically telling the Israelites to pass through some regions and to fight in others. The difference in the two is pretty significant and it teaches us some truths to remember. On today’s well discuss them as we look at Deuteronomy 2.
