A friend of mine once spoke of his long distance relationship with his wife prior to their marriage. He said most of their interaction came through letters sent back and forth across the country. When he received the letter he would devour it, reading it over and over. How bizarre would it be to have someone else read that letter to him rather than read it himself? The sad truth is that somehow this is what Christians often do when it comes to reading God’s word. Rather than hear from God ourselves, we’d rather have someone else tell us what He says than actually read it ourselves. Somewhat surprisingly, we aren’t the first ones to do this. On today’s podcast, we’ll discover the tragic consequence of not listening to God’s voice for ourselves.
