The concept of waiting on God is an endeavor that few of us really ever master. It can be agonizing to live in the tension waiting for God to intervene in a situation hopelessly out of our control. But as we will see today, both the steps and the stops of a good man are ordered by the Lord. God has a way of providentially directing even the moments of acute anxiety that often plague our seasons of waiting. Though we are often unaware, God is doing something while we wait on Him. It’s a truth we see powerfully displayed for us in Esther chapter 5.
