In 1980, the General Accounting Office was asked by Congress to find out how many federal laws there were on the books. By 1984, they still had received no response. When they were asked why, the GAO stated that they were still counting. At that point they had counted about 3,000 but they were just scratching the surface. At the rate Congress was passing laws, by 2000 there would be over 20,000.  The truth is we don’t really know how many laws there are. The answer lie somewhere between 15,000 and 50,000.  Have you ever wondered if you could right a law? Pass one, maybe we should pass one that we don’t pass anymore for a while.  Well, in Esther chapter 8, the king essentially handed the pen to the queen allowing her to write whatever law she wished. It’s a pretty momentous occasion.
