The date was June 12th, 1987. The speech given in Berlin by then President Ronald Reagan pressured the leader of the Communist Party in Russia to “tear down the wall” that had divided the city of Berlin since the end of World War 2. The speech and the subsequent action were iconic moments of the Cold War era and went a long way to forging the path of liberty in the European bloc. Walls are meant to divide things, to separate 2 very different parties.
