One of the most influential people on my spiritual journey was my Youth Pastor, a man named Mike Brandon. Pastor B was a retired police detective whose ability to connect real life with the word of God in a winsome compelling manner had a huge impact on my desire to walk with God in a very impressionable season of my life. Pastor B was filled with quips and one liners that had a way of lodging in my mind. Some of these truths have found taken root in my heart as I have found them to be true in my own life as well. One of those truths Pastor B was fond of reminding me of was “when God decides, God provides.” That truth is clearly revealed for us in the pages of God’s word in Ezra chapter 2. While this chapter may seem tedious at first, it points us to this truth in a unique fashion worthy of our consideration today.
