After 70 years in a foreign land, you have been given the miraculous and divine decree to move back home and build the Temple. You have been given the opportunity to return, granted safe passage on the journey home, even been given the resources necessary to do what God has clearly given you to do. You have the hopes of the people, the grace of the king, and the favor of God on your shoulders as you return. When you get home, what is the first thing that you are going to do? If you say anything other than build an altar, you would be incorrect. Today we’ll learn why this was such a significant objective and how it might apply to our lives today.
