He’s one of the more enigmatic characters associated with Jesus. The wild-eyed preacher that lives in the wilderness, eating locusts and honey, covered in camel hair. Likely schooled under a zealot Essene sect of Judaism, John the Baptist must have been quite a peculiar fellow. But he was used mightily by God to announce the entrance of Jesus in the storyline of redemptive history. While his announcement about Jesus is the most important takeaway from his life, his humility can teach us volumes about the nature of true discipleship.
