“A liar will not be believed, even when he speaks the truth.” These are the final words of the story of the boy who cried wolf. The story tells of a young boy who likes the attention that comes from him crying wolf. He did it so much, that eventually the people ignored his warnings believing that he was telling a lie. When the wolf actually did come, the sheep were destroyed. One wonders if this was the attitude of the people of Israel. They had become deaf to the cries of the prophets who repeatedly warned them of God’s judgment. The problem was these prophets were not crying wolf they were warning the people as a result of the long-suffering of God. But eventually, the hammer of God’s judgment would fall. Even in the shadow of such judgment, men like MIcah continue to plead with the people to repent. It’s a message we should consider as we study Micah chapter 1 on todays podcast.
