My friend Jamey Ragle once said, “A need seen is an assignment given.” That phrase has always stuck with me as a reminder that when it comes to the kingdom it’s not someone else’s job to do it, if you see a need, you need to help fill it. Each of us are gifted to do the work of the kingdom and one of the greatest problems in the church today is that we would rather pay someone else to do it than do it ourselves. But the Christian faith is ours to own, not to pawn off on someone else. Our faith must be our own and stewardship of God’s church must be owned as well. We must never be content to let someone else do it. It is antithetical to the model of Jesus. A model we see depicted for us beautifully in Nehemiah chapter 3.
