The skill of negotiation is a necessary practice when it comes to the business world. Entire cottage industries have devoted thousands of pages to “the art of the deal.” They spend millions each year studying and teaching how to negotiate and arbitrate in a way that best serves their interests. But when it comes to negotiating with the enemy of our souls, we must never come to the table of compromise, for doing so will lead to our own destruction. It’s a lesson we learn today amid the fierce dissension Nehemiah endures in Nehemiah chapter number 6.
