It’s one of the most recognizable stories in all of Numbers. Picture if you will the land infested with snakes, fatally inflicting wounds on the people of God in the midst of the desert. This is the kind of story that forces us to imagine just how abhorrent this story must have been. But Jesus references this story in his conversation with Nicodemus and unpacks for us the true spiritual meaning of this truly attrocious story.
