Description

25% of Kenyans live in the Western Region with over 700,000 farming households. About two-thirds of this population is under 35 years old with an average median of 19.1 years.
While the agricultural sector is critical for creating employment and uplifting the standard of living in Kenya and being the backbone of Kenya’s economy, the youth are yet to fully exploit the sector's potential, with several challenges having to be addressed.
Access to education, vocational training, formal and informal financial services, lands, markets, networks, physical and digital infrastructure, technologies and innovations are especially limited for youth in rural areas.
In this episode, you’ll get to learn who we are, what we do, and how we support young people in the agri-food sector, etc. And finally, we will also share with you a summary of what to expect in the upcoming 9 podcasts.
Our guests today Michael Duerr and Asena Evans are on a mission to address these challenges.
