Description

Dr. Emeran Mayer is a gastroenterologist at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He is a distinguished research professor within the departments of Medicine, Physiology, and Psychiatry. Dr. Mayer is an expert in the clinical and neurobiological aspects of how the digestive system and nervous system interact in health and disease. 

His current research focuses on the role the gut-brain axis plays in emotion regulation, chronic visceral pain, food addiction and obesity, cognitive decline, and autism spectrum disorders.

He is the author of The Mind-Gut Connection and The Gut-Immune Connection
