David is generally perplexed by one of Huey's all-time favorites, Yuri Norstein's Hedgehog in the Fog (1975) a classic Russian fable, beautifully adapted into a classic of experimental animation techniques. The problem of presence, of memory & prediction; the fog representing the pataphysics of the mind; anticipation, distraction, worry, wonder, uncertainty, yearning, hindsight, confusion, being lost, the journey & the destination, blah blah blah, it's all that, in only ten minutes of animation. Certain yikes takes on Walt Disney's various misogynistic & antisemitic views during his era. How every country's education system tells their children/new generations that their country was the first to do everything & invent every innovation, smh. Maybe we should actually just tell children the truth about world history? Without nationalist bias. David talks at length about his passion for marathon running & they discuss the various methods of fuel, be they toxic like alcohol or health-beneficial like various vegan & hydrating options, your body your choice etc. It's all chaos, what's the difference if someone fuels their microbiome with bullshit as opposed to 'what they're supposed to put in their body'? It's all nonsense & we're all going to die, such is the Hedgehog in the Fog. Is what it is. They also talk for some reason at length about the David Craig James Bond films & go-to holiday-themed movies. The appreciation of "the spectacle" & large-scale cinema (in contrast to independent animation/live-action cinema, for instance). A24's middling batting-average, despite their hype as a production company putting out pseudo-consistently quality work. The absurdity of giving any media a "rating" when you know that your view of it change after various reviewings overtime regardless. Addendum: Generic Thanksgiving Plans for Loners.
