The Pasefika Movie Starter Kit follows the rise and fall of South Auckland's Dawn Raid Entertainment as shown by renowned playwright, film maker and actor Oscar Kightley. Starting as a chance pairing at Manukau Polytechnic business program, Brotha D Leaosavai’i and Andy Murnane took a market t-shirt table and turned it into a global music empire by acquiring businesses and artists from their communities, promoting and elevating them to new levels. We talk through the different moves they made during their rise, their early success that galvanized the pair to reach for even more, how they were swept up by a music scene changing from physical to digital media, and how the artists seemed to react to financial uncertainties late in the label's run.
