Description

Zack Benning is a 2014 Raider graduate. During his time at Hastings High School, he competed in cross country, hockey, baseball, nordic skiing, and track and field. In cross country, Zach was on JV during his 8th grade year and varsity from 9th-12th grade. He was a 3 year captain, 3 time state qualifier, and took 5th at the state tournament during his senior year. In hockey, Zach play Jr. Gold during his freshman year and JV his 10th grade year. In nordic skiing, Zach was a state qualifier during his 11th and 12th grade year. Zach also participated in baseball during his 9th grade year. Finally, Zach participated in track and field from 10th-12th grade where he was a state qualifier in the 4x800, 1 mile, 2 mile, and 4x400 while also placing at the state tournament with a 5th in the 1 mile, 2nd in the 2 mile, and 7th in the 4x400. Finally Zach set school records in the 4x800, 1 mile, and 2 mile. After high school, Zach attended UW-Madison where he participated in cross country and track and field. Zach has a great interview where he discusses the important role sports can play in someone's life and guide the path that they are on.
