Danny Welch is a 1999 Raider graduate. During high school, he was a three sport athlete competing in football, hockey, and baseball. In football, he was a 3 year varsity letter winner, while earning All-Conference and All-State accolades while leading the team to the state tournament during his junior year. In hockey, Danny was a 3 year varsity letter winner, again earning All-Conference and All-State honors, while leading the team to the state tournament during his junior and senior years. In his junior year, the hockey team won the consolation bracket and took 2nd place during his senior year. Danny was also named Metro player of the year and runner up for Minnesota Mr. Hockey during his senior year. In baseball, he was a 3 year varsity letter winner and lead the team to a state title during his senior year. After high school, Danny attended the University of Minnesota where he played hockey as well. During his sophomore year, the Gophers won the National Championship. Danny also played for a UHL team based in Omaha, NE, the LA Kings AHL team, and professionally for a variety of teams throughout Europe. Throughout the interview, Danny talks about the coaches and teammates he had throughout his playing career and credits them for a large amount of the success he had.
