In this week’s episode Shannon talks about the mission of the Birthday Joy Program “to encourage a sense of self-worth and a feeling of home to children living in crisis through the joy of birthday celebrations”. Shannon discusses all that they do from birthday parties for children in shelters and group homes, to Birthday Fixins Bags for underprivileged families, Joy Bags that are supplied to over ten Title One schools in the area that include a new book, a Whataburger coupon and two small toys, and their Community Joy Project helping underprivileged families put their kids in extracurriculars that they otherwise would not be able to afford. Lastly, Shannon talks about how their nonprofit is run by all volunteers and are always looking for people to help bring a little joy to kids.
