Description

Cameron (Cam) Luhring’s most vivid memory from childhood involves a tennis racket in his hand. Having two older siblings involved in the sport meant that Cam would be acquainted with a tennis lifestyle from an early age.

The University of Nebraska Omaha offered him a tennis scholarship, and that seemed like the route to take until Cam’s plans were derailed when his father received a stage-four cancer diagnosis. Feeling the need to be closer to home due to these circumstances, Cam left the Maverick’s tennis team after only a year and enrolled in classes closer to home, at the University of Northern Iowa. Devastated by the news of his father’s cancer diagnosis, Cam’s love for tennis gradually subsided. It was only by chance that he found pickleball.

After only a year of competition, Cam is ranked nationally; furthermore, he has acquired sponsorships from two pickleball companies. He is now playing in tournaments nationwide in hopes of making pickleball a career. Listen to this interview, and you’ll understand why pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the USA.
