Things got very difficult and the future seemed dark at times. Ryan questioned his Faith when the accident took place. How could this happen to a child, a son? A devotional book from a friend revealed to Ryan how miraculous his journey would become.
Ryan gave his trust to the staff at Stead Family Children’s Hospital and left the rest in God’s hands. Ryan morphed into exactly what his son needed. Tate’s road to recovery required advocacy and strength and Ryan had to be present.
The road to recovery has been a journey. In the year and a half after initial surgeries, Tate’s surgeries now total more than 30! Conversations took place about leg amputation, infection, skin & bone grafts, and new muscle flaps during his road to recovery. There will be surgeries and surgical revisions in the future, but Tate’s legs were saved!
From the catastrophe came a foundation. Tate’s Army Foundation Inc. was created by Ryan and Fonda Manahl who want to pay it forward to make a difference in our world. Tate’s Army will be there to advocate for children’s safety, to offer support for life-changing medical traumas, increase awareness, and offer financial assistance to injured children and hurting families in their hour of need.
