Elise tells Warren of King Jared before her father King Marcus of Breon, the war between Raurim and Breon. She maps the land, The Mountains of Rolandra (The Beechwood Expanse). Warren learns there are Fantiks who can sense the power of the Shaddam-Rioch. Elise demonstrates her skill. She reveals Columnban's true name: Ethelrend. They leave Ethart and Lorel in Abathal bound for Calorthang Castle which they enter through a secret door. Columnban conjures heatless flame. They enter through the treasury of King Marcus and finally into the main chambers to announce the return of Princess Elise. She re-establishes herself with the help of the captain of the guard, Horace. Elise reveals to Warren the man who subdued her father: Victor Sanctorum. Among Elises visitors are Yaromir Nesteri riding his griffin Fantik Demetrius. Horace reveals that Artanock Nesteri has been falsely accused and imprisoned following King Marcus' disappearance. Elise reunites Artanock and Yaromir who fly away towards Durnhart.
