After the stormy night, Warren approaches an exhausted Horace to ask him his account of the night Marcus was taken and Elise dissapeared. Horace tells of Torgeir, prince of Raurim and the Nesteri. Horace begins Warren's weapons training. Horace gives Warren a standard issue sword and reveals his modified crossbow, which Coriander produced. Columnban tells Warren that Elise's couriers have returned, including a surprise message from Raurim brought by Yaromir. Columnban says Elise has already read the missive and tells Warren they will discuss her decision that night. Columnban tells more about the Nesteri. After washing and donning new clothes, Warren proves he is growing in the Shadam-Rioch. Columnban and Warren ride to meet Artanock who leads them to Yaromir's tent. Inside, the four read the letter to Elise sent from Tanach, King of Raurim, Torgeir's father. Warren reveals a hidden message in the letter. Artanock shows Warren the Mugduble. Warren discovers Artanocks ring. Warren joins in the dance and wakes up back in Calorthang.
