The next morning, Warren returns to Calorthang from Arianna's home after promising to keep her informed. Upon arriving, he finds Elise and Columnban preparing to march to Raurim head-on. He returns to inform Arianna and confronts Artanock. Elise, Columnban, Warren, Horace, Artanock march out with their entourage. Elise reveals the extent of the warfare. Three days later, a scout warns of a raided village ahead. They approach and survey the damage. As they continue, Artanock leads Warren away from the entourage to see The Laughing Valley where they are ambushed. Columnban leads a counterattack, to rescue Warren. They remount and continue towards Raurim.
