Description

Shakivla Todd is featured on this week's episode of Nicstalgia. We talk about being able to appreciate the past while realizing that much pop culture from the past is outdated or problematic now. Shakivla shares her experience of growing up between Southern California and South Carolina, having to always be Scary Spice as the only Black girl in her class, and getting a Spice Girls tattoo in London. We have a love for 90s R&B and recognize that there’s really nothing like it in the present time. We also discuss why nostalgia and nowstalgia are so popular now, how brands can be a part of culture in 2022 without being performative, and how Lizzo made an impact as an unapologetically fat woman.
