The Celtics finish off a 4 game West Coast Trip by beating the Thunder 132-123 to complete the 4 game sweep. This was one of the worst defensive games we have seen in a while that led to 72 points in the second half alone BUT we were on the second night of a back to back with Smart and Timelord both sitting out. Overall, not a great game defensively but the offense was buzzing once again. Batman Grant Williams had a career high 20 points and also added in 10 rebounds for a beautiful double double. The story of this game in my eyes is the "bench guys" and I'm including Grant and White in that mix even though they got the start due to Smart and Timelord being out. Obviously we talked about Grants 20pts but White and Pritchard both chipped in 18 points and Theis added in 9pts and 8reb as well. Those 4 guys combined for 73 points! Obviously those numbers are skewed because we were down 2 starters but they are finding their groove on both sides of the ball at the perfect time.
The Celtics now sit just 2.5 games back from Miami for the 1 seed and in a virtual tie with Philly and Milwaukee for the 2 seed. With just 9 games remaining for the Celtics, anything 1-4 is within reach which is crazy to think considering we were sitting at 16-19 going into New Years Eve. This run the Celtics are on is truly special.
