This game started off sloppy for the Celtics missing a lot of layups at the rim and it led to the Celtics falling down by as many as 13 in the first quarter. That is when Mazzulla subbed in Brissett who brought a ton of energy and 2oreb which sparked a huge Celtics run bringing the deficit to only 2 at the end of the quarter. While the Heat stuck around for most of the 2nd quarter, the Celtics ended the half on a 17-6 run in large part to big scoring quarters for both Tatum (11pts) and JB (8pts) which led to a 60-55 halftime lead.
While the third quarter was an absolute battle and was one that the Celtics did not win. They found themselves down 88-87 after three but turned on the the jets in the 4th and it all started with Derrick White. White ended the game with a team high 28pts but 14 of those came in that 4th quarter and on top of that, he was sensational on the defensive end highlighted by a chase down block on Butler in transition. After a tough season opener for JB, he came back strong with 27pts including 12 in the 4th and a couple of huge buckets down the stretch. We're two games in and both of them were ugly wins BUT they were both wins. These were the types of games we lost last year so it is great to see them pull together down the stretch when it matters most.
