Artists' Retreat Explores the Connection Between Art and Theology

"Art is the Way of Beauty. It has a special way of piercing our hearts in order to receive grace," shares Holly Schapker, a Cincinnati artist who has been working closely with Fr. Thomas Flynn, LC, and Called to Create, an initiative established in the Ohio Valley area by artist and educator, Laura Kline, and designed to spiritually nurture Catholic artists and encourage them to use their creative gifts as a means of sharing God’s truth and love through their artwork.

The project "M for Mary" is an initiative that the Holy Spirit stirred in Margarita Martinez' heart because of the pandemic. She began by offering formation to the parents of students at the school she was working at in Colombia through Instagram. Little by little, many (thousands) of people began to follow her page, and she realized that the platform could reach many people from different places around the world.
