Marlon Woods - psychologist, DEI professional, and an international master trainer and ambassador for Les Mills International.
In Marlon’s background as a personal trainer, Marlon was training women who were transitioning into the perimenopause stage of life. Without knowing anything about the end of the reproductive cycle for women and how this impacted on their physical and mental health, Marlon dived into personal research, which he says “wasn’t easy!” to figure out how best he could help his clients.
As a former personal trainer, this episode really struck a chord with me. I fequently teared up during the interview (check out the YOUTUBE version) thinking back to my years as a PT and how I was training midlife women and how they weren’t able to shift the extra 5-10kg that just showed up overnight. They were the hardest working clients in the room, never missed a session, ate everything I told them to eat. They were fit and strong and yet the weight hung around and they were taking longer to recover from the training sessions - I knew nothing. And for that I can’t applaud Marlon enough for his foresight and tenacity to self study and help his midlife female clients. The world needs more Marlons!
