In celebration of International Women’s Sports Day, Monaco hosted a special Motorsport Edition at the Prince’s Car Collection on Friday, January. The event highlighted the growing role of women in motorsport and provided a unique opportunity for female athletes and enthusiasts to engage with industry leaders and role models.

The Principality also marked a significant diplomatic milestone with China, celebrating 30 years of diplomatic relations and the Chinese New Year at a grand gala on Friday, January 24 at the Fairmont Monte Carlo. The event reinforced the strong ties between the two nations and featured cultural performances, speeches, and a showcase of Monaco’s enduring global partnerships.

Motorsport fans witnessed history at the Monte Carlo Rally, where Sébastien Ogier secured his record-breaking 10th victory on Sunday, January. Driving his Gazoo Racing Toyota Yaris, Ogier dominated the challenging course, further cementing his legacy in the world of rally racing.

On the same day, the Principality paid homage to its patron saint with the annual Feast of Saint Devota. The solemn procession carried her statue from Sainte Devote Church to Port Hercule, culminating in the traditional burning of a boat by the Princely family, a symbolic act representing faith and protection for Monaco.

Monaco also played a role in the global commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. Acting Minister of State Isabelle Berro-Amadeï joined over 50 heads of state and international representatives at the solemn remembrance ceremony at the infamous "Gate of Death," honouring the over 1.5 million lives lost at the camp between 1940 and 1945.

On the security front, the annual New Year’s Ceremony of the Directorate of Public Safety highlighted Monaco’s ongoing commitment to public safety. His Serene Highness Prince Albert II, alongside Interior Minister Lionel Beffre and senior officials, reviewed the Principality’s security achievements and future strategies, reinforcing Monaco’s reputation as one of the safest places in the world.

In football, AS Monaco suffered a tough 3-0 defeat to Inter Milan at the San Siro Stadium on Wednesday, January 29. Reduced to ten men early in the match, the Monegasque side struggled to contain the Italian powerhouse, resulting in a difficult evening for the team in their European campaign.
