"And then things got worse" seems to be a fitting summary for 2020 so far. In the wake of an unarmed black man being shot in the back 7 times by cops, there were riots. In response to those, the alt-right came out and now at least two protesters are dead with several more injured. I thought the police were supposed to "serve and protect" and catch criminals and murderers. Since that clearly isn't the case, it really calls into question their function and purpose.
