On today’s episode, Louis and Jim welcome in Jake Edelstein.
His story sheds light on how family background and predisposition can be a foundation for addiction. Jake goes into detail on the substances that he abused, the lengths to which we would go to feed that addiction, and the strain it put on those closest to him.
Jake describes the up and down battle in his late teens to early twenties — going in and out of hospitals, recovery, sober living centers, and ultimately psych wards from the ramifications of meth use.
Much like Louis and Jim, in recovery Jake has found ways to positively impact and support those struggling with addiction. The long term "sober fraternity" speaks to the need to address the whole person, not just the addiction.
