Mergin was part of the 1987-1988 URI Men's Basketball Sweet Sixteen team as a junior. He spent two years at Seton Hall before he spent the following two years at URI. Sina has spent the last nearly twenty years coaching AAU and high school basketball at Gill St. Bernard's School in New Jersey.
Mergin and I talked about the roller coaster of a ride in basketball he had leading up to URI, how he dealt with adversity, coaching in today's day and age, playing overseas, and more!
