The end of Genesis is a wonderful moment in history as this family of about 70 people are welcomed into Egypt because of the great things that God accomplished through Joseph. This whole generation of Israelites would live in peace in Egypt until their deaths, but their descendants would continue to grow into a mighty nation. And 1:6 says they became extremely powerful and filled the land.
This new Pharaoh was different than the one who ruled during Joseph’s time. It’s obvious that the population was changing in Egypt, just with the rise of the Israelites, but there was certainly other tensions that come with the growth and progress of a nation. Either way this Pharaoh perceived the Israelites as a threat to Egypt’s national security so he took action which initiated the beginning of The Exodus!
