First of all, following being sent out two-by-two, John the Baptist had just been beheaded, and so, Jesus took his disciples to a quiet place to get away, decompress, and debrief. There is something we all need and that is rest, and to unplug regularly. Especially after Jesus had just lost his cousin John he and his disciples needed to take a break.
