Description

In 1993, the 3rd of May was declared World Press Freedom Day to reflect on the fundamental principles of press freedom, the need to defend those working in media from attacks, and a day to pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the course of carrying out their work.

Today, Journalism has come of age at a time where 'everyone', as an individual storyteller, faces increasing digital surveillance from state authorities.

A classic example of digital siege and censorship where there is a thin line between truth, propaganda, and sensationalism, was when the Nigerian Government in 2021 lifted the ban on Twitter operations in the country after 222 days and economic losses of about N500 billion.

In this episode of Thinking Reimagined ®️, Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator), Sheyi Owolabi (Brand Designer, Visual artist, Photographer, and Art Curator) and Adebola Williams (Storyteller, Blogger, Content Strategist, and Editor) speak on the need for more responsible journalism, where professionals are walking through a minefield at midnight, just to ensure that the mission to tell the truth remains alive against all odds.
