In 2014, a well-intentioned Safe School Intiative to heighten security and protect Nigerian students was launched in response to the growing insurgence in the country. The well intention $30 million fund targeted 500 schools with the promise to rebuild schools and improve security as well as provide teacher training, educational materials and equipment.
