In this shiur we discuss the reasons that Keriat Shema is in the Tefilah, the source of the Mitzvah, and we introduce the topics of Keriat Shema that we will need to cover in the following shiurim. We also spend some time explaining it's relation to Chanukah and the mission of the Chashmonaim.
