Hi this is The Leadership Boost, boosting your leadership into high performance, with your host Shaun Smit.
This is Episode 30
Ken Blanchard said: The key to effective leadership today is influence, not authority.
Influence is the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself.
A boss is feared, but a leader is admired. Leaders are admired because they create confidence, correct mistakes, they are interested in the individual, they find the points of engagement, and they help develop the individual for advancement, i.o.w. they empower them, they don’t look for power.
And all it takes is the best version of you, the real you, interacting with each employee.
Did you know that a whopping 31% of employees wished their managers communicated with them more?
Bob Nelson said: An employee’s motivation is a direct result of the sum of the interactions with his or her manager.
But strategic engagement is not just down, to your employees. The leader’s engagement needs to go up – leading/managing your leader – down, to your direct reports, and across, with your associates and fellow managers or team members.
Influence is about strategic engagement in all your relationships.
This is the KEY to effective leadership.
Thanks for listening.
