Description

Imam Fakruddin Razi (rahmatullahi alaih), great Islamic scholar, the author of Tafsir kebir and also of various other valuable books, wrote while explaining the sixty-first ayat of Al Imran Sura:

When I was in Harazm[1] , I heard that a priest had come to the city and was striving to spread Christianity. I called on him. We began to talk. He asked what was the evidence to demonstrate the fact that Muhammad (alaihi-salam) was the Prophet. I answered him:

Fakhruddin Razi – As it is stated that Musa, Isa and other Prophets (alaihim-us-salam) demonstrated wonders and miracles, so we read and hear about the miracles of Hazrat Muhammad (alaihi-salam). This news is unanimous. You are free to accept or refuse these unanimous reports. If you refuse and say that manifesting miracles does not signify prophethood, you will have to deny the other Prophets, too. If you admit that the reports transmitted in a common way are correct, and that the person who performs miracles is a Prophet, you will have to admit that Muhammad (alaihi-salam) was a Prophet, too...
